Legalism demands that sinners contribute to their acceptance by changing themselves. Theological liberalism lowers God’s standard and offers acceptance without atonement or transformation. The gospel calls sinners to come helplessly to Christ, who provides the perfect righteousness God requires and the transforming grace sinners need.

Luke 12:16-21 (ESV)
16 And he [Jesus] told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, 17 and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ 18 And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’ 20 But God said to him, ‘𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐥! 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐥 𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ 21 So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐆𝐨𝐝.”![]()

Today, many people are hearing the message, "Don't fear God. He loves you unconditionally". And what is so often communicated by that is that God is in fact not your judge, no matter what you do, whatever the condition of your life, your attitude towards Him or your actions in His world. You don't have anything to worry about. God is not your judge. God is your biggest fan, and he just wants you to be happy.![]()

And immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, “Why do you question these things in your hearts? 9 Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise, take up your bed and walk’?
